Acts 1:8...But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
Jesus has defeated death, hell and the grave having been resurrected and walked among the people for 40 days, proving He was alive. He talked with them, ate with them, ministered to them. Acts 1:3 KJV...To whom he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them 40 days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
Jesus is the greatest example of being focused on His mission. But in His mission, He never forgot about the ones He hand picked, His disciples preparing them once again for that thing they would need to get their mission done. "POWER" to get their assignment completed.
Jesus introduced The Holy Ghost to the disciples in the Gospel of John, chapter 14. Letting them know He would not be with them much longer but He would not leave them comfortless. Verse 26...But the Comforter, which is The Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your rememberance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
He tells them about what The Holy Ghost will enable them to accomplish in John 15 & 16 but on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2, they finally understood the POWER they had and became the POWERFUL men and womenJesus always knew they would be.
Jesus also promised this same POWER to you and I, if only we believe. You have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and have a measure of what we will need during our life on earth. But if you allow yourself to ask Him for The Gift, THE POWER from on HIGH...then you will realize the truth about Him (The Holy Ghost) and you will be equipped to complete the purpose God has kept you alive for inspite of the dumb things we do trying to fit in this world.
Our task is not to get caught up in what the world does, even though we live in it. Our job is to tell everyone we can about Jesus so He can become their Lord and Savior, receive the Gift of The Holy Ghost and get POWER to change this world for Christ.
After Jesus was taken to heaven in cloud in Acts 1:9 & 10...The Angels prepared them for this Precious gift. The disciples and women spent the next 10 days in prayer, waiting for the Promise. Acts 2:1...And When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Verse 2...And suddenly there came a sound as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where thay were sitting. Verse 3...And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Verse 4...Ans they were all filled with The Holy Ghost, and began to speak with tongues, as the Spirit Gave them utterance.
You can continue reading Acts 2 to its conclusion to see just what happened to them and what can happen with us if only we will allow ourselves to be as single minded as the 150 in the upper room. This world needs your presence and witnessing about Jesus.
My life has never been the same because I am all in on what The Holy Ghost leads me to do everyday of my life. I am not bragging, just letting you know for a certainty this is real. In spite of what I did that I am not proud of, inspite of what you have done you are not proud of, God has a purpose for me and you. I am walking in mine and Blessed beyond measure. You will be too. Pentecost Sunday is coming...Get Ready...
Thank you Lord for Your Word.
