Don't Worry Have Faith In God
Matthew 6:24-33 & Luke 12;22-34 KJV...24...No
man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Take a page from today’s news headlines and you will find yourself worrying. If your money is in the stock market, you may be taking meds due to the ups and downs. Here today, gone today (or tomorrow) is the fear. Will my children be able to attend college? I need a newer car but the interest rates are climbing, my wife and I are thinking about a new or newer home but we can’t find one available. My doctor gave me a prescription but the cost of filling it has become beyond my means.
My job is cutting my hours and with costs going up, how am I going to provide for my family. Worry, worry, worry consumes us, which is leading to health issues which causes more worry. And we have not talked about politics which we let add to our worry.
The scriptural reference for this message is Jesus teaching which begins in Matthew chapter 5 The Beatitudes, teaching on murder and anger Matthew 5:21-26, on Temptations 27-30, on Divorce 31-32, on Oaths (vows) 33:37, on Forgiveness 38-42, and on loving our Enemies 43-48.
Chapter 6 , Jesus teaches on Giving 1-4, on Prayer 5-15 (where you will find The Lord’s Prayer), on Fasting 16-18, Treasures in Heaven 19-24 and Worry 25-33 our subject for this message.
Jesus lessons to us have always been about Faith, Salvation, Forgiveness, Obedience and Heaven. Faith is the one He taught about the most because if we have “faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain “Remove hence yonder place; and it shall remove and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew 17:14-20 KJV.
That is POWER and we have it IF YOU HAVE FAITH. Our scripture reference specifically is dealing with worry and why we should not be bothered with it. The stronger the faith the greater POWER you have. Jesus uses nature for His lesson to the disciples.
Chapter 6:25…Jesus tells them don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or wear. 26…The fowls of the air don’t do anything but fly yet our heavenly Father takes care of them. Verse 28: He uses the flowers and how they grow. Verse 30…If God can take care of the grass which is here today and gone tomorrow, can’t He take care of you…O ye of little faith?
Verse 32…Don’t be like those earthly ones because worry is what they do…what if my stocks fall, what if I lose my car, what if the prices at the grocery store continue to climb, what if gas reaches whatever number needed for you to freak out. What if, what if, what if.
How about this…Worry Not…Verse 33…But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. The world wants you stressed, afraid, and sick all the time because these earthly issues will take your mind off God, His Kingdom and Promises to us His children.
Before man discovered gold, diamonds and other precious metals that we strive to have, it was already in the ground when God said “Let There Be” in Genesis 1. Give God Our Father His Praise and Worship for creating us, He will forever take care of us…that is His promise. Be obedient to Him, become useful in His hands,
Allow Him to mold you into what He wants you to be. If you will do that, you will never worry because your faith in God will remind you that your God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 KJV
Thank You Lord for Your Word.
