Deliverance From What Has You Bound
2nd Chronicles 20:1 - 4...It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. (2)...Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be Hazazontamar, which is Engedi. (3)...And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaiming a fast throughout all Judah. (4)...And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the Lord: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.
Everything is going great in your life or at least that is what you are telling yourself and your friends, On the surface, those around you see someone who seems to have it "going on"...but in reality you are crying the "Tears of a Clown" when there is no one around to borrow the lyric line from Smokey Robinson's hit song from the 70's.
Jehoshaphat is the great great great grandson of king David and is king of Judah. Things seem to be ok in his kingdom but one day he get's some disturbing news. There is a battle looming against him and his kingdom by not one or two enemies but a bunch of them joining forces to defeat him.
Verse 3 say's it clearly, Jehoshaphat feared...and so would you. No matter how much faith you have, sometimes something so huge in front of you will shake you to your core and just like Jehoshaphat and anyone else, you would be afraid. Afraid of the unknown, that is what satan says' in your ear...you could lose your home...your marriage...the doctor's report is really worse than he is telling you...they are laying people off at your job and you could be next...FEAR. But how many reading this know "fear" is the trick of the enemy and is not from God because God provides power, love and a sound mind 1st Timothy 1:7.
The amazing part of verse 3 however say's that even though Jehoshaphat feared...he also set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. When you set yourself to seek the Lord, your position is on your knees or laying face down before God. It was in Jehoshaphat's DNA to call on God in times of trouble. That is what his great, great, great grandfather David did, that is what David's son Solomon did.
In your life you saw someone in your family who knew the life changing power of God fall to their knees or laid face down before Him praying, fasting and calling on the Only True And Living God for deliverance. When that thing or those things in your life continue to plague you and prevent you from being all you can be in God...it is fasting and praying time believing by faith that God will hear and deliver you from that "FEAR".
Jehoshaphat not only set himself but he called on everybody in his kingdom to do the same thing, fast and pray. Imagine if everybody in your family, job and just those who know you were doing the same thing for you to help defeat that thing overpowering you.
In Mark 9:14-29...The disciples tried their best to cast a demon from a boy but were unsuccessful. The boys father asked Jesus to help him. Jesus spoke a Word and the boy was delivered. The disciples asked why they could not help the boy. Jesus told them this kind comes out but by prayer and fasting.
What is the this kind facing you? You have the power to overcome your this kind. Your POWER comes by reading God's Word, Prayer and Fasting. Make up in your mind that your "this kind" will not rule you...stand on God's Promises and give God the Glory when you no longer fear.
